The point can change without changing the barrel

Fixed steel points have been standard on darts for a very long time. They work, but changing them normally means using specialist tools to remove and replace the point.

Screw-in point systems change that. They allow compatible points to be removed and replaced far more easily, opening up different lengths, profiles and point choices without replacing the barrel itself.

For players who already have a favourite set of fixed-point darts, that creates an obvious question: can my existing darts be converted? In many cases, yes.

What Screw Point Conversion does

Our Screw Point Conversion service modifies suitable steel-tip dart barrels so they can accept supported screw-in point systems. The existing fixed point is removed where necessary, then the point end of the barrel is carefully drilled and threaded for the required system.

Current Tiger conversion work includes support for Target Swiss Point and Harrows Quick Point systems. The result is still your barrel, with the grip, shape and feel you already know, but with the flexibility of a screw-in point system.

Not every barrel is the same

Conversion is workshop work, not simply fitting a different point. The barrel needs enough suitable material around the point end for the drilling and threading process, and its construction, dimensions, condition and any previous modification can all affect suitability.

Most conversions are carried out on tungsten darts, although suitable brass steel-tip barrels can also be converted. The service is for steel-tip darts, not soft-tip darts. If there is anything unusual about a set, the actual darts and a workshop inspection are what matter.

There are a couple of things to understand first

Conversion removes a small amount of material from the barrel, so the barrel weight will reduce. Exactly how much depends on the individual darts and the work required.

It is also a permanent physical modification. Once a barrel has been drilled and threaded for a screw-in point system, the conversion cannot simply be undone, and modifying the darts may affect the original manufacturer's warranty. Those are important considerations, particularly if the darts have sentimental or collector value.

For many players, though, the reason for converting is exactly the opposite. They want to keep using a set they already know and enjoy.

Keep the darts. Change what they can do.

New darts are great when you want a different barrel. But if the barrel is already right, there is another option. Screw Point Conversion can give suitable existing darts the flexibility of modern screw-in point systems without asking you to start again with a completely different set.

Not sure whether your darts are suitable? Tell us the brand and model and send a couple of clear photos, and we will help you work out whether conversion is realistic before you send anything in.
